Noise Pollution (ध्वनि प्रदूषण)
(Noise Pollution)
(Introduction):
(Definition):
(Frequency)
(Measurement of Sound):

(Transport Control):
(Social Control):
(Individual and Domestic Measures):
(Legal Measures):
Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000
(Hospitals, Schools) 50 40
(Public Awareness):
“No Horn Zone” और “Silent Zone” का पालन।
(Conclusion):
Noise Pollution
Introduction:
Sound is an integral part of our lives.
But when the intensity of sound increases so much that it disturbs human health, hearing, and the peace of the environment, it is called noise pollution.
🔹 Definition:
> “When the loudness and frequency of sound produced at a place
become so high that it adversely affects the health of humans or animals,
then this condition is called noise pollution.”
Measurement of Sound:
Sound intensity is measured in decibels (dB).
Normal hearing range: 0 to 85 dB is considered safe.
Sound above 85 dB is harmful to human health.
Average Intensity of Sound Source (dB)
Normal Conversation 40 – 60
Traffic Area 80 – 90
Car Horns/Trains 90 – 100
Airplanes/Factories 120 – 140
Major Sources of Noise Pollution:
1. Transportation Sources:
Motorcycles, trucks, buses, trains, airplanes, etc.
2. Industrial Sources:
Noises from machines, generators, compressors, and heavy machinery.
3. Social and Recreational Sources:
Loudspeakers, firecrackers, religious ceremonies, weddings, and DJ music.
4. Construction Activities:
Use of heavy machinery in the construction of buildings, roads, and bridges.
5. Domestic Sources:
Noise produced by appliances such as TVs, radios, mixers, vacuum cleaners, etc.
🔹 Effects of Noise Pollution:
🧠 1. Effects on Human Health:
Hearing Loss
Mental Stress and Irritation
Sleep Disturbance
Increased Heart Rate and Blood Pressure (High BP, Heart Rate Increase)
Neurological Disorders
2. Effects on Animals and Birds:
Birds' migration routes change.
Animal fertility is negatively affected.
3. Effects on the Environment:
Natural peace is diminished.
Ecological balance is affected.
🔹Measures for Control of Noise Pollution:
🏭 1. Industrial Control:
Installing silencers in machinery.
Use of sound-proof walls and building materials.
Establishing industrial areas away from residential areas.
🚗 2. Transport Control:
Restricting the use of horns by drivers.
Installing green belts along roads.
Regular inspection of old and noisy vehicles.
🎶 3. Social Control:
Establishing time limits on the use of loudspeakers and DJs.
Limiting noise levels at religious or social events.
Controlling firecrackers and using environmentally friendly fireworks.
